Christmas Tree Decorating – Pops of Color

November 11, 2023

Christmas tree

Looking for inspiration for your Christmas tree this year? Look no further! I’m revealing the decorations for my second Christmas tree and we are going with bright pops of color.

Our second Christmas tree is all about the bright reds, whites and cute elf feet! In my recent video on my YouTube channel I take you with me as we prep and decorate the second tree in our house.

Aside from the bright colors on the Christmas tree, I love where we placed the Christmas tree this year. We usually place the tree in front of the living room window, but this year, our big 7 foot Christmas tree sits at the bottom of our living room staircase. Best decision ever!

It fills the living room beautifully and you can see if from the kitchen, too. The bright colors on the Christmas tree make me so happy.

If you’re looking for a some neutral Christmas tree decoration inspiration, check out my recent blog post where I take you step-by-step on how to decorate a neutral Christmas tree.

I’d love to know, do you love the neutral Christmas decorations or do you decorate with all the bright Christmas colors?

How to Decorate a Neutral Christmas Tree

November 4, 2023

Let’s take you through step-by-step on how to decorate a neutral Christmas tree. I traditionally gravitate towards pops of color – bright reds, greens and whites. This year, I wanted one of the two Christmas trees in our home to primarily be neutral Christmas decor. I was inspired by my new Christmas tree that I was given this year.

If you read my last blog post, you saw we put all the Halloween decor away and prepped the house for Christmas.

Start With the Right Christmas Tree

To start, I recommend picking out an artificial Christmas tree that will shine with a neutral style and aesthetic. I chose the Noble King Fir from King of Christmas – it was this tree that inspired me to pursue neutral decorations. The King Noble Fir is unique and gorgeous all at the same time. It intentionally has sporadic branches which give it that minimalist look and feel. It comes pre-lit with while lights which works perfectly with neutral tones and textures.

Pick a Large Ornament or Sign

Next, I love finding a staple Christmas ornament or sign that will sit perfectly in the middle of the tree. I like it to be eye-catching but give you cozy feels. I found a metal sign at Rod Works that was perfect. It has a cream background color and a natural green tone for the text. It fit perfectly in the middle of the tree. The fact that the Noble King Fir has space between each branch helps place a sign on the tree.

If you don’t want to buy a new sign, shop around your house. Is there a small or medium sign you can place on your tree? Maybe you can place multiple smaller signs. I love “shopping” my home. It’s fun to change up how you use a decoration.

Neutral Christmas Tree Ornaments

Texture, texture, texture! Find a neutral color like a light brown, cream, champagne or a moss color is fairly easy. But finding that texture is key! That is what will give your Christmas tree that extra touch. At first I thought I wanted velvet Christmas ornaments but from a distance, you couldn’t really take in the texture. I found gorgeous ones online and at local stores. However, when I found these beautiful ornaments at Hobby Lobby, I was in love. They came in a pack or six and were super affordable. After 50% off, they came out to $5.99. For my King Noble Fir tree, I bought a pack of each color – brown and cream. From across the room, you can see the texture of the ornament. These ornaments just took the Christmas tree to another level!

A Few Extra Touches

Here’s the fun part to me… finding extra decoration that you can place around your tree to emphasize that neutral style you are going for. For me, it was antique gold bells. I also found these at Rod Works. There are part of a garland set that hang small bells across them. You could really use then anywhere in your home as part of your Christmas decor, but I hung these above and below the sign. The tree lights reflect off of them at night and they give the perfect texture and neutral style I was going for.

If you aren’t a fan of bells, try round wood pieces, some wood beaded garland or even pine cones. My biggest tip: find Christmas pieces and ornaments you’ll be sure to use each year.

On my YouTube channel, I go into all the details and decorate my neutral Christmas tree with you. Check out the video below.
